Over the past week we have been vastly improving the distribution aspect of MassMirror to accommodate even more uploads!

Changes:

Fixed a bug where after uploading a file the user would see "File Not Found" in the download link location.

Improved network security and installed a few extra tools to keep hackers at bay.

Numerous optimizations to the software core especially the download pages.

File discovery no longer requires a referral check from MassMirror.com

The file information page layout has been upgraded to use a wider viewing area.

The delete link button no longer shows after the 1st view on a file download.
For anyone interested the MassMirror Clone software is half way complete and will be available soon. This software allows anyone to run a site like MassMirror!

In other news MassMirror will be one year old on May 15th 2008. There will be a few surprises that day!

It's great to make promises. Sometimes however, they can not be kept. This is especially the case with MassMirror.

We have posted a lot of "to be expected updates" and deadlines for those to go live. None of these things have been forgotten about however, the problem is some of them take longer to build then others.

Everything you see on massmirror has been built from the ground up by a single developer. He has built every aspect of MassMirror from the MMup desktop utility to the upload and synchronization technology. He is also the artist behind all of the graphics on MassMirror.com. So as you can guess he stays pretty busy. We plan to never outsource any of the development behind MassMirror.com. Instead everything will be built in-house and customized for use with this project.

From now on there will be no more promised updates on this blog. Announcements and Improvements will still be posted here.

PS: It has come to our attention that some people are claiming they made MassMirror! This is most flattering and funny!

Well, pretty much the whole world wants to get their hands on their very own mirror site clone. So I guess in a way we are feeding the frenzy.

A project is nearing completion that will allow anyone to host their very own massmirror clone. The script will be free for public / private use and will be released under the creative commons license.

That's right!
We are releasing a free version of MassMirror! With full PHP5 source code. Soon you will be able to run your very own file distribution service using MassMirror Clone.

PS: MMup users the email update is still being worked on...

Saturday the MassMirror service was offline for about 5 hours while our host network upgraded a power transformer to support more servers. Since the downtime one of the mirror servers has been crashing causing some minor service downtime.

These issues will be resolved ASAP and we are sorry for the inconvenience.
